Last weekend I had bought 3 DVDs from my library - Jarhead, Lucky You and Manchurian Candidate.
Jarhead is a story of a soldier where he fights a war in the deserts of Saudi, with himself. A 20 Yr old boy who loves doing homework with his girl lands up in a marine academy. The boy is moulded into a man and sent to war against the Iraqis. They suffer, train in the deserts, suffer even more, play football in 115o sand, train harder … celebrate and come back as war heroes. It might be fact with some of the soldiers, but the movie loses interest somewhere in the desert. Even traces of any oasis were difficult to find.
Lucky You is a story of a gambler, very well known in Vegas due to his father’s fame, and his expertise with women. This story curves smoothly with a girl coming into his life and making him a much better person. And most importantly making him respect his dad, a 2 time world poker champion. If you are not doing much on a weekend, you could spend 2 hours on this movie. Drew Barrymore is gorgeous as always!! J
I was expecting so much out of a Denzel Washington and Meryll Streep movie. The storyline is good, but the execution was pathetic. The movie was supposed to be a fast paced, intriguing and passionate depiction of Richard Condon novel. This 45 year old movie revolves around Sergeant Shaw who is manipulated by his mother. She uses Manchurian Global’s invention, implants some bio genetic chip in people’s brains to control their behavior and actions. Denzel and Meryll do show their class in few enigmatic scenes but I found the movie to be a BORE!
Next movie views and de-views on ... Sweet Home at Alabama, Hope Springs and Kinsey.
